Plant science research in Switzerland covers a broad range of fields. From molecular dimensions to ecosystems, from basic to applied science – all researchers share the same interest – finding answers to the many open plant related questions of plant breeding, conservation, ecology, genetics, health physiology and systematics.

Some research groups focus on chemical compounds, single genes, species, populations or ecosystems, while others investigate the complex interactions that arise among plants or between plants and other organisms. The researchers carry out their work in labs or on field sites in Switzerland or in other parts of the world, e.g. tropical forests in Borneo.

Each research portfolio on the SwissPlantScienceWeb presents a group leader who works at a university in Switzerland.

The portfolios illustrate the broad range of research in plant sciences.
