The world is celebrating the Fascination of Plants Day 2022. For this purpose numerous interactive events around the theme of plants are offered to the public. This special day focuses on the essential role of plant science to society.

The Fascination of Plants Day is a plant scientists’ initiative that in 2022 has been adopted by 56 countries worldwide. Information about the initiative is available at www.plantday18may.org. It is supported by a network of National Coordinators who promote and disseminate activities within their countries.

A variety of over 350 plant-based outreach activities for all interested people from toddlers to seniors have been published online by scientific institutions, universities, botanical gardens, and museums, together with farmers and private companies. They will open their doors for the public to enjoy the offered events.

This special day puts the spotlight on the fascinating world of plants themselves: Numerous activities on and around the Fascination of Plants Day, under the umbrella of the European Plant Science Organisation and the Global Plant Council, will plant virtual and constantly germinating seeds in the collective mind of the world public recalling that plant science is of critical significance to the social, environmental and economic landscape now and in future.
