Bad Bubendorf Hotel, Bubendorf / Swiss Canopy Crane II, Hölstein BL
 Organizer:
 TreeNet / University of Basel / IAP / WSL/ ETHZ / FOEN / SwissForestLab
The venue of the workshop is the Bad Bubendorf Hotel near the city of Basel, which can conveniently reached by public transportation. The 2-day program includes a lecture series, a workshop and an excursion to the Swiss Canopy Crane II site Hölstein of the University of Basel including a crane ride into the treetops of this beautiful mixed forest. The workshop aims at writing a white paper about the future of measurement networks like TreeNet. How should the perfect network of tomorrow look like and which requirements from science and society should it be able to fulfill?
The presentations will show scientific highlights on the topic of forest growth in one of the four conference sessions:
Session 1: Essentials - Monitoring of site, environment, and vegetation
     Session 2: Supersites - In-depth research
Session 3: Linking sites - Near real-time biological signals
Session 4: Remote sensing & artificial intelligence - Large-scale assessments and modeling
Workshop: White Paper - What could the ideal forest research network of tomorrow look like?
The workshop will follow the questions of how the setup of an ideal forest research network needs to look like in order to serve the needs of basic and applied science and the needs of administrations and a wider public. We encourage all participants to get involved in the writing process prior to the conference. After registering, you will have access to the current version of the white paper.
