In the European Union there has been a long standing discussion over how to better organize the science-policy interface (SPI) on environmental issues in general and on biodiversity and ecosystem services in particular. At the same time Europe has a broad landscape of knowledge holders, producers and users working and acting at diverse levels of policy-making related to biodiversity and ecosystem services. The session aims to reflect on the approaches and challenges of science-policy-society interactions from a scientific as well as practical perspective, build the awareness on the EU advice environment across participants and invite them to play an active role in the future.
